I was recently reading an article by Scott Patsko from the Sun News about how sports coverage has changed with social media. Specifically Scott pointed out that sporting news coverage has significantly changed over the last two years due to Twitter.
Consumers need to know information immediately and the next day does not work. The immediacy of in game updates – knowing the scores and stats has changed everything. Now people see sports news coverage as highlights after the game by viewing a photo gallery for example. In the new digital age, game coverage has no longer a shelf life and has become a daily publication.
If you are business, have you considered taking a page out of the sporting reporting playbook? Are you live tweeting from events? Are you following-up with highlights? Web 3.0,the semantic web, is upon us and consumers are looking for help through all the clutter.
